Draw a flower... Make it really BIG!

From the Outdoor Hour Challenge Newsletter, August Grid.   I drew a Daisy.
Tabbi wants you to guess what her's is.... (did you guess pumpkin blossom?)

MUD!

We found this birds nest in the ditch this morning. It had one leftover egg still in it.  When I touched it, it broke and PEE YOU! it stunk.  Of course I got a bit on my finger and had to go wash it off right away.  YUCK!
Tabbi and I decided to try one of our August grid ideas... and make mud!  and put our feet in!

We put our muddy footprints on a piece of foam that was by the deck.

Time to wash up!  (It WAS kinda fun! :D )

Jewelweed and Tabbi's garden

I showed Tabbi the Jewelweed (Touch-me-nots) at the end of our drive.
 These are the seed pods....
That POP open and curl up when you touch them, throwing seeds everywhere.
Flowers in Tabbi's garden: Scarlet Runner Beans...
 and Verbena.
And Vegetables, too!  Pumpkins, Radishes and Peas.

Leaf shapes

Today we started our "Learning Time" for this year!  We looked at the August Grid from The Handbook Of Nature Study Newsletter.  We were to find three leaves of different shapes.
I chose Tansy, Day Lily and Strawberry.
Tabbi chose Carrot, Cabbage and Maple.
She drew pictures of her leaves in her nature journal.
I made leaf rubbings in mine.
